Black, Indigenous and People of Color in STEM Meetings

Black, Indigenous and People of Color in STEM Meetings

Dr. Guiton has created BIPOC in STEM in order to offer a virtual space for our Black, Indigenous, and People of Color in the College of Science. With the events surrounding the death of George Floyd and the systemic racism in our country, this space will serve to promote emotional healing and foster community. All are welcome!

BIPOC will meet once a month where members get to know each other, share experiences, listen, and support each other during this time as well as in the coming years. Please fill out the following survey if you would like to join us. https://forms.gle/qdCArVDvrporh13Q7

A message from Dr. Guiton:

“ As a Black woman in STEM and a faculty who cares deeply about the education AND well-being of all her students, I want to help by creating this space. I know firsthand the isolation that comes with being Black in STEM or, more often than not, "the only one" or "the first one." It is exhausting, terrifying, and frustrating. I want this space to be a safe environment where you can be who you are: apologetically BIPOC and PROUD to be a STEM major!”
